[Solved] Xorg screen position offsets

Hello, I just installed Arch Linux 64-bit on a new machine.  This machine has a Radeon 6870 as its graphics solution.  I'm using xf86-video-ati for the driver and there is a minor issue I'm hoping to resolve.  The physical position of the output on my monitor is slightly to the right of center.  This means that on the left side of the monitor there are about 5 pixels of black and on the right side there are about 5 pixels cut-off.  I've tried to use xvidtune to come up with some values that would fix that but whatever I try to adjust it with always reports and unsupported mode and no changes are applied.  In an xorg.conf file I've also tried a monitor section for my card and giving it a negative x value in the position parameter.

I don't really know what else to try from here.  If it can't be fixed it is a minor issue so I wouldn't be devastated, but, however if it can be fixed I would really appreciate some advice.

Try playing with the Virtual and Viewport options in "Section Screen" "SubSection Display".

Great things come in tar.xz packages.

Re: [Solved] Xorg screen position offsets

Thank you ConnorBehan, I found a different solution however!  Didn't mention that my display is a 40" HDTV 1080p.  On my display's remote I dug around a bit in the on-screen menus.  I found an option called "Auto Adjust."  D'oh.  Everything is fine now! wink  Thank you again however! big_smile
