laptop going to meltdown

Hi,

I've only recently installed arch but i worked fine until the last update I did.
Since then my cooling fan hasn't been comming on after boot (it starts untils arch boots).
I've looked into it and found this :
# sensors
acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1:        +81.0°C  (crit = +120.0°C)
temp2:        +81.0°C  (crit = +120.0°C)

coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0:       +79.0°C  (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
Core 1:       +79.0°C  (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

Is there any way to bring the crit temperature down please.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
Afusa

ps:if it's of any importance I'm on a HP pavillion dv2500.

Re: laptop going to meltdown

About the fan not working, you probably need to load some driver to control it. Regarding the critical temperatures, those cannot be changed. I suppose those are the temperatures that if reached the machine will shut down by itself to prevent damage.

Re: laptop going to meltdown

It's not the first time these forums have had threads relating to laptops overheating.

Re: laptop going to meltdown

critical temp should be changed in BIOS settings (pay attention)
