I'm using e17 DE now and have installed evince as well,
and I found I could not add bookmarks for pdf in evince...
that is, there's a "add bookmark" button to click, but it keeps grey and I cannot click it.
so any solution here? any idea is appreciated, and thanks in advance
(BTW, if there are other pdf reader which provide bookmark function too(except okular), please let me know
---------
update: i've test it under lxde, xfce and gnome, and it works well under gnome and xfce... don't know the cause

Not sure why it's greyed out. We had the same request awhile back and it seemed as though the selection was limited to the "vim-like" pdf readers.

I've had the same problem with evince using i3wm, and managed to solve it by installing gvfs.
Despite it's age this thread showed up 2nd in my Google results so I figured I'd answer it. Hope this is okay!

Welcome to the forums Damaskino
Please take the time to familiarise yourself with the forums Code of Conduct, especially the section regarding old threads/necro-bumping.
If you'd read the pacman output when installing evince, the gvfs optional dependency would have been obvious.
