even with qtcurve-kde4 removed systemsettings still crashes while accessing workspace appearance here.
Edit: as @teho said, rebuilding oxygen-transparent-git package solved it, so I guess rebuilding qtcurve might solve it for those who are having crashes.

#1 Cant edit user's details in systemsettings:
it fails on asking me for password with some "chfn" err.; see:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=301201
I guess this could due to Dave's recent change in pam, http://mailman.archlinux.org/pipermail/ … 23017.html
Nope, upstream closed it as duplicate of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156396

Another issues I found:
#2 OpenGL detection failure
I'm not so sure about this one, after first time installing this kde release, i restarted X to load the new, but it crashed during startup. Second time it started ok, but now i realized compositing/desktop effects were turned off (OpenGL; I think automatically after the crash at the first start). In systemsettings > Workspace Appearance > Desktop Effects in Advanced tab i selected OpenGL and clicked "Re-enable compositing detection" (or how was it) and it works! (transparency, etc)
Happened to anyone, should it be reported?
well.. after messing with this, i had a power failure (thanks to the batt bug.) and now plasma-desktop does not start. (kwin is running) :

Just tried to reinstall kde 4.9b, didnt help. Maybe clean something in .kde4 dir? But i dont want to lose it all.
Desktop effects disabled.
Could be related to today's [testing] updates? some python-* to python2-* comes to my mind..
Thanks for advice

Yes, I read project's page and the author already knows about that.
Dolphin can't mount any partition.
I can mount a partition with ntfs-3g.
Kopete crashes when i try to add a msn account.
Can you paste the output of konsole when you try to add it, and the last ~50 lines in ~/.xsession-errors too.

Do you have multi lib qtcurve installed? I removed this and got it working whenever the repo opened.
Confirmed: "Workspace Appearance" in system settings crushing if qtcurve-kde4 is installed. I don't understand what's that multi lib is all about though - qtcurve is in community repo.
PS Other than that I can't believe it's just beta1, it's working extremely well, wow! 4.9 is going to be outstanding release.
Right, right, but I was also thinking of the lib32-qtcurve-* from AUR, sorry for the confusion.

I can't. Dolphin only "see" my / partition. Ext4 partitions and USB memories (fat32) are affected.

.xsession doesn't show any interesting.

Yes, it works, but only from Dolphin's Ctrl+F. The krunner doesn't show up nepomuk results, neither does the timeline:/ in Dolphin...

Can anyone confirm that:
1. Battery plasmoid does not show the remaining time (I enabled the option from settings, of course...)
2. Battery plasmoid does not update the remaining battery in % when coming from sleep (a.k.a. suspension to RAM) until I restart the plasma-desktop

Something is wrong with applications using kipi plugins (gwenview, ksnapshot). They seem to be looking for the .so files belonging to extra/libkipi 4.8.3-1.
I guess digikam should be added to the list of packages that need to be rebuilt

Even after the kdelibbs update I still can't mount a USB drive from Dolphin, only from the Device Notifier plasmoid.
Also, I confirm that remaining time doesn't display in the battery plasmoid, even if enabled.
Another thing is that with kernel 3.4+, the brightness slider in the battery plasmoid doesn't work even though I can adjust brightness using the function keys. This happened with 4.8.3 as well. Not sure if this is a kernel problem or plasma problem?

Even with kdelibs 4.8.80-5 Dolphin still can't mount any partition for me.

Here is the patch to have qtcurve compile properly with the new KDE. It's just a temporary fix for it to build, the author of qtcurve still needs to come up with the proper solution: http://codepad.org/qx6qdGNa
This is the PKGBUILD that uses it: http://codepad.org/a6c6B9aA
(and the other patch used by the pkgbuild: http://codepad.org/Zq39pUeI )
