lightDM Unity-greeter not starting

just thought i would share a quick work around i stumbled on.

Earlier today i upgraded libindicator3 to 0.5.0-1 this resulted in lightdm not starting but creating this error:

/usr/sbin/unity-greeter: error while loading shared libraries: libindicator3.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

now as i knew i had upgraded the afore mentioned library i decided to try an old trick by fooling lightdm into thinking it had what it wanted by using a simple sym link:

ln -s /usr/lib/libindicator3.so /usr/lib/libindicator3.so.6

this issue could well be due to the library being a new version but lightdm-unity-greeter still looking for the old but this dirty trick works for now but if you use it & it works just remember what you have done so you can reverse it when the time comes
