CIFS VFS: default security mechanism requested - Explanation?

I'm getting the message below at boot:

CIFS VFS: default security mechanism requested. The default security mechanism will be upgraded from ntlm to ntlmv2 in kernel release 3.3

... and am unsure of its significance?

I'm mounting a share from my NAS at boot so I assume the message relates to that but my kernel version is 3.3.8-1.  Is there anything I should be doing in response to the message or is it something that will be resolved by a future kernel update?

Thanks in advance.
