IRC Ban affecting more people than just me!

Hello.
I'm not trying to get back at anyone or cause any troulbe what so ever.
A OP banned me from #archlinux
So being the smart 14 old I am I change the host name thingy and got in. THis mod banned me again so I decide to get a new ip and restarted my router and I got in once again. Then this OP banned my ISP which is were the problem comes into play. I have ameritech (SBC Yahoo DSL) and this service is popular in Ohio and a few other states. So I think that that ban on the ISP needs to be removed so new users aren't punished because of me.

Basically what happen was I swore at a op and called this op and jackass I figured I could get away with it because I certian memeber was insulting me and he didn't get banned and there was no punishment that basically what happened.

**I will not go into detial why I was banned because I do not intended this thread for me to agure my ban.

Just a thought - if you're banned, then you're probably banned for a reason. Circumventing the ban moments later, especially while the op that banned you is still in the room, isn't exactly a "smart" thing to do -- if the only way to keep you out was to block your ISP, then the person banning you probably knows it'll affect more people than just you, and everyone else who gets blocked by it has you to blame, because you wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. It's awfully noble of you to step forward like this and allow all those other people to see who caused their involuntary bans.

In the future, if you're banned from the channel, I suggest PMing the person who banned you and starting a peaceful dialogue, instead of being Mr. Smarty and trying to circumvent the ban.

You had tried numerous times to circumvent the ban - so I have banned your entire subnet.

If anyone is having problems, they can point the finger at you.

Unfortantly I tried doing that. When I bypassed the ban it was to try to talk to this op who banned me. I send this op tons of message askign how long my ban is, asking for forgiveness, asking for him to unban me in a few hours cause I would be in bed. Yet this op didn't respond to me. Do I think my ban was fair no. Would I like to get back in the channel I would love to.

To the OP that banned me if your reading this your probably laughing or something like that just forgive me and pleaze let me back in.

If the op isn't replying to "tons of message", why do you think he/she will talk to you when you circumvent the ban to let yourself back in the channel? If anything, it'll make the op more angry. Common sense, man.

I was mad at my parents and being a dumb stupid teenager I took my anger out apon him. It was terrible mistake I was stupid and I'm extremely sorry for my actions!

You don't try to get around a ban especially after you talk trash to an op. You need to wait a few days and let things cool down. Then if the op so deems fit he will unban you. You only make things worse by pestering people.

As for other people being banned due to the subnet ban I would doubt it very highly and if they are, there are many ways of posting about that in the forums and such. IRC is not a requirement to use arch its a perk that gets abused by some people.

maveric had some other good points too - the ban was warranted, and I had the full support of another op. Yet the err was to continue trying to gain access to the channel. In addition, I had put you on ignore as well, which is why I was not responding to your messages. However, there were many messages relayed to me... such as "Tell phrakture he's made a bad mistake, he he" and other passive threats.

Please, let's not bring IRC issues into the forum. I have the job of keeping both civil and helpful for new users. Sometimes this pisses people off, but for every person angered by decisions such as this, 10 have a more enjoyable experience.

You know who abusing it RaDeon is abusing irc. Anyways you probably got my pm and I siad what i had to say. Would you telll how long I'm banned and is possible to unban me but take away my voice? I would promise not to login as anyohter user than msg43. I bad mistake I pissed off at my parents and i took out on your. I'm very sorry and if you can just answer my question on how long I"m banned.

Edit: What do you mean it was warrented. Was I a criminal wanted?

I have decide to leave the arch community. I have had a strange feeling for quite some time that many people don't like / care for me. So I'll do everyone a favor and leave.

If you like arch, then don't let a few people who feel you are immature turn you away from it. If the distro is not what draws you to arch, but it is the community instead, and you feel that the community doesn't appreciate you, then moving on may indeed be a good choice for you.

As a young man it is easy to simply react to external stimuli. Instead, it is sometimes helpful to make a concerted effort to self actualize a bit upon information inflow.

A break may do you some good. Temporary removal from a contentious situation for some clear headed consideration upon the issue may indeed bring new insight.

If you do choose to seek other waters, then farewell to you, and may you have pleasant dealings in your future endeavors.
