[SOLVED] Reduce heat with Toshiba L300D

Hi everybody.
As many of you may have noticed, summer is here. As I live in quite a hot place, and my laptop's fan doesn't work very well under 3.X kernels, I got quite sat of a constant 74°C temperature while I'm doing nothing more special than typing my work. All the more, because I have lots of work and I have to spend almost all day by the laptop during these days, and I quite dislike this behaviour.
I could force the fan to constantly spin at full speed under the 2.6.32 kernel26-lts, which is indeed the very reason why I came to arch linux in the first place. Yet it doesn't boot anymore, I get redirected to a bash-like shell from which I suppose I should mount filesystem, but I'm not quite practical with these emergency shells and I couldn't solve the issue yet.

If I try to run mkinitcpio -p kernel26-lts, I get the following error message:

[~]$ sudo mkinitcpio -p kernel26-lts
Adgangskode:

Googling and searching the BBS about it gave me no result. Would somebody be so nice to help me?
I apologize with my head in dust if the answer was easily accessible, I just couldn't find it, and I'm really full of work so I must give up for now.
Thank you everybody!

Re: [SOLVED] Reduce heat with Toshiba L300D

There's a bug already in place see https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/27592  - it might be related to your question.

Re: [SOLVED] Reduce heat with Toshiba L300D

Thank you! Most weirdly, even if mkinitcpio is not run correctly, the kernel26-lts now boots, which has never happened since a long time. Of course it doesn't work as it should, as I can't get to X with radeon nor with fglrx, but it looks like this issue doesn't affect me anymore :S
I'm quite puzzled

As for now I'll try making use of catalyst and xorg111.

Ok, for what it matters, by making use of catalyst-345k [with catalyst-generator 12.4] and xorg111 I could boot a functioning 2.6.32 kernel which allows me to reach a good [for this laptop] 65° temperature without having to use twm or the sort. I'm sorry for the disturb this topic might have brought to you and I hope that anybody who has a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300D laptop might find it useful in some future.

Re: [SOLVED] Reduce heat with Toshiba L300D

I also changed the title. I hadn't put the "SOLVED" label yet because, in fact, I haven't solved the main problem the topic was started about, it solved itself without any particular reason.
