I'm not sure if anyone is still using Mate. Anyway, this occurs predominately in Firefox I notice that within the window there are strange white lines around the tool bar section when browsing that occasionally disappear and reappear. Also, this happens in the Mate terminal (around the terminal itself) but only when it is maximized. This problem is not present in Gnome3 or LXDE. I've tried changing themes around to no avail, unless I go with a dark GTK2 theme.
Anyone else see this in Mate? I'm using Nvidia drivers as well.
Video of it in Firefox here, works best on non-white background (a screenshot won't capture the problem):

This problem is specific to Arch, I can't replicate it in Mint with Mate or LXDE.
Anyway, found this old post, not Arch, but actually seems to have some merit (not using a theme dependent on Murrine or Clearlooks and it goes away):

Why the problem is not present in Gnome3 / Cinnamon is beyond me. I'd like to hear from others who have this problem and will put in a bug report once I have a better idea of why it is happening.
EDIT:
The problem appears to be a part of the window manager marco and metacity (using either window managers in Mate and the problem is there).
Below is a screenshot:

It's related to Intel SNA acceleration. SNA == white borders. UXA == working fine.

Hmm, haven't been able to try Intel for awhile now, it's been Geforce and ATI chip sets.
