Hi,
after update to 3.4.2 kernel (both stock Arch and CK kernel upgraded from version 3.3.2), I no longer have sound from my laptop speakers but when i plug in headphones i have sound in them.
My Laptop is HP Pavillin dv6 1135ew.
I was able to notice that the problem is with this line in my /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf:
options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5
But this was working fine since kernel 2.6.2x
I've been trying different models but the only effect i could get was the sound coming from both speakers and headphones at the same time.
Some information:
[wojtek@wojtek-laptop ~]$ cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0 | grep Codec
Codec: IDT 92HD75B3X5
[wojtek@wojtek-laptop ~]$ cat /proc/asound/card0/pcm0c/info | grep name
name: STAC92xx Analog
Tried google but noone seems to have this problem
Edit:
After trying dozens of models I found that dell-m4-1 is working good.
No idea what Dell has to do with my HP laptop but as long as it is working, I don't care.
Edit2:
I'm glad I could help You guys.
I have changed the topic title so more affected HP laptop users could find it.

Hi!
I know that this is and old post but in Debian Jessie, with the latest kernel upgrade that problem has reappeared.
I only want to say that the proposed solution continues solving the problem.
Thanks a lot for your help.
Bye!
