[Request] Avisynth 3 - powerful frameserver for video

Hi

This app is still in development (CVS) but it would be nice to start testing under arch (if it is possible). Avisynth's killer feature is the amount and quality of free plugins/filters. Versions 2.x are windows only. New Version 3 is both Win/Linux. Anyone interested in creating a package?

http://www.avisynth.org/AviSynth30

"AviSynth is a powerful tool for video post-production. It provides almost unlimited ways of editing and processing videos. AviSynth works as a frameserver, providing instant editing without the need for temporary files.

AviSynth itself does not provide a graphical user interface (GUI) but instead relies on a script system that allows advanced non-linear editing. While this may at first seem tedious and unintuitive, it is remarkably powerful and is a very good way to manage projects in a precise, consistent, and reproducible manner. Because text-based scripts are human readable, projects are inherently self-documenting. The scripting language is simple yet powerful, and complex filters can be created from basic operations to develop a sophisticated palette of useful and unique effects. "

Since you've made a ton of package requests today, it would be helpful for other users if you said what the requested packages can actually be used for.  The documentation on making PKGBUILDs is also fairly straight forward if you wanted to take a crack at creating some of them yourself.  I'm sure other people can help you through the process if you decide to give it a shot...

AviSynth is a powerful video FrameServer for Win32.

would be kinda hard for anyone to make a pkgbuild for it
...unless something can be done with wine
has anyone tried to make a pkgbuild that uses wine to install windows programs, that would be really intersting

Where is that version 3? I've dug through the homepage and sourceforge, but haven't found anything. Could it be the CVS version?

I'll see if I'm able to make a PKGBUILD with my limited skills. Looks like all the dependencies which we can't get via pacman will have to be compiled from CVS sources; at least STLPort.

I don't know, I might be cinical, but the  documentation page states that:

Avisynth is on development stage. There is no documentation yet on how programming a plugin, on how writing a script. In fact, Avisynth 3.0 is not doing much right now.

And on another page it says it's not backwards compatible...

So I'm not sure if it's worth the effort at the moment.

Well plugins for these kinds of programs usually emerge pretty quick, so I don't see any harm in compiling this anyway to wait for the future.

You have a point. Yet in it's current state IMO it's pretty messy - like the circular buffer headers...

I wish you good luck!
