I've finally managed to mount my iphone after patching the libmobiledevice package as described in the following page https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/26710
Unfortunately I'm unable to sync any audio files using Rhymbox, Banshee or Gtkpod. I've spend a lot of time researching this problem but was unable to come up with a solution so far. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Probably because it doesn't support the latest iOS. It never did.
With Apple products, iTunes is your ball and chain. Seriously. You are married to iTunes whether you like it or not... You should know this by now. I suggest a lightweight VM just for this (and possibly other programs like Cyder 2, iFunBox). I use a 2 GB .vdi VirtualBox container with TinyXP installed, 512 MB RAM allocated, shared folders and NTFS compression on the C: drive. Also an Apple-ish theme. Have fun.

I have made a personal commitment not to reply in topics that start with a lowercase letter. Proper grammar and punctuation is a sign of respect, and if you do not show any, you will NOT receive any help (at least not from me).

That makes sense, thanks for your quick reply.

Actually I'm quite new to the apple world, I was given my iphone as a gift about a week ago. And quite frankly I fail to understand how people continue to buy this limiting product.
