[Solved] Attempting install on Dell latitude CSx.

EDIT: I should mention that this is a very old compute, I think it has windows NT on it, but it does have a sticker saying that it is designed for win NT, 98, and 2000

The bios doesnt have an option to boot usb, so I burned a archboot to a cd but when I try to boot I'm presented with this message:

ISOLINUX 4.05 0x4f57275b ETCD Copyright (C) 1994-2001 H. Peter Anvin et al
No DEFAULT or UI configuration derective found!
boot:

Any Idea how to proceed with the install?

Re: [Solved] Attempting install on Dell latitude CSx.

Did you check the md5 of the ISO?
Did you try a reburn of the media at the slowest speed your drive supports?
Are you using the official ISO?
If not, do you need to use Archboot?

Re: [Solved] Attempting install on Dell latitude CSx.

How old are we talking about?

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Of … hitectures

Arch Linux is optimized for i686 and x86_64 processors and therefore will not run on any lower or incompatible generations of x86 CPUs (i386, i486 or i586). A Pentium Pro, Pentium II or AMD Athlon (K7) processor or higher is required. (technically, cpu's without the cmov instruction such as AMD K6 and via C3 are also i686, but we use gcc and it uses cmov instructions).

Check with:

$ less /proc/cpuinfo

According to this, it has an "Intel Mobile Pentium III".

Also, to boot from a USB stick without BIOS support you should google "plop boot manager".

Re: [Solved] Attempting install on Dell latitude CSx.

I burned a copy of the official iso and everything's working fine. It must have been a problem with the first burn though, because I've used the same copy of archboot to make other bootable media successfully before. The 500 Mhz proccessor is pretty painfull.
