Midori fails to open my bookmarks

Hallo all.

There is a small issue with Midori, and it's the second time I run across it. For apparently no reason at all, it has decided that my bookmarks file is unsupported. When I start the application, it kicks a window saying: “The following errors occured: Bookmarks couldn't be loaded: unsupported file format.”

/var/log/everything.log doesn't show anything, starting by the terminal also doesn't show anything.

If I rename/remove my ~/.config/midori/bookmarks.db file, then the new file that is created works fine, but that means my currently saved bookmarks are gone out of the window, unless of course I manually open the .db fine in a text editor, copy the links etc.

Any ideas? I really like Midori, I prefer it a lot than the keyboard-based webkit-based browsers.

Thanks

Re: Midori fails to open my bookmarks

I also faced the same issues with midori

u identified it correctly in my case changing the permission of ~/.config/midori and deleting all files in the directory did d trick......

in nutshell run

sudo chmod 777  ~/.config/midori

cd ~/.config/midori

sudo rm -R *

gud luck

Re: Midori fails to open my bookmarks

Thanks for sharing, even if your solution is needlessly complex (you could achieve the same by with 'rm -r ~/.config/midori'). Please note that the topic is almost five years old, and the OP is unlikely to be still searching for a solution.
