Pidgin, jabber and offline messages

Me and a friend started using jabber and we have the following problem. When both are available everything works fine, but when one of us is offline, messages are not arriving at all. Never.
We both use Pidgin, and we have an accounts on jabber.org.

Where is the problem? Pidgin does not report any errors. I always thought that jabber stores offline messages...

XMPP specification defines how to handle offline messages, jabber server software can support it or not, and an administrator can enable it or not.
According to the FAQ jabber.org is supposed to provide the service and keep your messages on the server http://www.jabber.org/service-policy/#messages

Try another client (Gajim and Psi are most decent Jabber clients), then write to jabber.org administrator/contact.

I tried Gajim and Psi, the same problem.

I checked pidgin logs and I found something like this: http://pidgin.im/pipermail/support/2010 … 07295.html - code 503 (service-unavailable).
The same code is in Gajim and Psi logs, so it looks like jabber.org not support offline messages
