Hi,
I am just wondering why do my trash items in Thunar have a lock on them.

Not sure why, but to delete them:
1. Select them all (Ctrl+A)
2. Shift + Delete

Edit: was looking for reason for lock and found interesting tidbit: if you Shift+Del in the beginning, apparently you can bypass Trash in the first place

The lock indicates permissions that don't apply to you. Usually if the files are in your directory, but owned by someone else, POSIX.1 states that you can delete them.
I may have to CONSOLE you about your usage of ridiculously easy graphical interfaces...
Look ma, no mouse.
