Why does this update depends on all that? Version 1.68-3 works without all these deps.
My setup is a headless Server. So i really don't need/want gtk..
Another point is the large memory footprint - i don't have that much space (at least i want to use it otherwise
)!!

Any suggestions?
Last resort - how to permanently ignore this update with pacman?
thank you

leptonica depends on gnuplot, and gnuplot depends on wxgtk. That pulls gtk in. I am pretty sure that gnuplot can be compiled without that dependency. Since there are only a few releases of gnuplot, it is maybe the easiest way to go to build a customized gnuplot and use that.

thank you for the explanation. strange though, that previous versions didn't rely on gnuplot.
i think i will just stick with 1.68-3 ..

Check the wiki page for pacman on how to hold back the package.

I am the Debian package maintainer for Leptonica, and was pointed to this thread by the author of Leptonica. Leptonica does not need gnuplot. Remove the dependency.

chibby, I think you should point the package maintainer for Leptonica on
Arch Linux to this discussion. That appears to be Sergej Pupykin.

This obviously has been fixed in pgkrel 2
