Can anyone reccommend a CD burning app?
I use k3b now but I want to rid myself of kde - i have had it on my system nearly a year and booted into about twice.
I found hacburn but after a promising start the dude seems to have given up. My main requirement is on the fly burning from a group of selected files - if it was simple ISO stuff I'd just use the cl. Actually, a non-gui solution is fine as long as it has the functionality I need.

I dumped KDE a while back and had to find another burner, too. Liked Gnomebaker as it was much like k3b, but it depended on too many Gnome libs and other files, so made the switch to Graveman. It's small with few dependencies, and easy to use. Some have reported having difficulty in figuring out to burn iso images, but the recipe is hidden under "duplicate cd".

Another vote for graveman! it does the job and works well for what I need it for, haven't run into any nasty surprises.
Oh and as for Gnomebaker it's extremely unstable imo, i've had a good few duds thanks to the program just locking up while burning.

Depending on your needs, X CD Roast [www.xcdroast.org] might do the job... it does for me, most of the time.

I tested graveman myself and found it to be quick and easy to use, but one thing puzzles me: by default does it have Joliet extensions enabled or does it just burn Rock Ridge standard? I didn't find info on this in the man pages, website or the program itself.
Just your basic anime otaku some might even call nijikon.

Check under Data CD > Settings tab. Seems like Joliet extensions are enabled by default.

Thank you. It seems than when making data DVDs such options are not available. Does it use the UDF filesystem in this case?

Sorry, don't have a DVD burner so I can't verify this, but graveman is basically a frontend for mkisofs and growisofs so it should support the same options as they do.
