[SOLVED] PulseAudio, Skype and Wine

Okay, I have the Skype 64-bit package installed on a fully up-to-date fresh install of Arch running KDE4 (which I'm starting to like) and PulseAudio. Pulse is properly configured to pipe all of my audio output through my Optical output which runs to a DAC. Everything on the Pulse side seems fine, right? Wrong. When I fire up a game in Wine (WoW for example) and then call somebody using Skype, I only get Skype's audio, not the games. The game goes completely silent. No Skype? Game audio works fine. This is an issue because I need to be able to hear the game, and talk on Skype simultaneously. I have commented out the Audio Cork and the flatline modules in the pulse config as suggested by the wiki, but the issue still occurs. I am also now starting my games via `padsp wine foo`
Am I missing something obvious?

Re: [SOLVED] PulseAudio, Skype and Wine

There was a thread about something very similar not too long ago if memory serves me right, try searching the forum.

Silly me, I overlooked one of the threads. Wine was just using alsa (not pulse via the alsa plugin)
Between installing pulseaudio-alsa and updating my ~/.asoundrc audio is now working in games simultaneously with Skype.

~/.asoundrc:

pcm.pulse {
    type pulse
}
ctl.pulse {
    type pulse
}
pcm.!default {
    type pulse
}
ctl.!default {
    type pulse
}

Teach me to not read a seemingly unrelated thread...

Re: [SOLVED] PulseAudio, Skype and Wine

Your ~/.asoundrc basically does the same as the system wide /etc/asound.conf and matches what pulseaudio-alsa used to install before, so you can probably use the system wide config if you don't have anything else in your ~/.asoundrc

Re: [SOLVED] PulseAudio, Skype and Wine

Hi all,

I've exact same issue, but setting ~/.asoundrc the way you do doesn't help. Any idea why?
