Planet Arch Linux

Imagine a place where you can read the thoughts of celebrity Archers like Dusty, Cactus, Dibblethewrecker and Xentac, amongst others. Surely too good to be true?! What about if we were also in touch with grand-Archer, Aperio, (Mr Judd Vinet himself). "No, surely not?!", I hear you cry! And for those who are really bored, you can read my thoughts too.

Well, let it be known, such a blessed place does exist. In fact, there's an entire planet reserved for the Archers. Fresh and fragrant meadows of webspace exists for brave pioneers to conquer.

Planet Arch Linux is the place to be. There are over 4000 registered users on these forums, yet only 9 blogs aggregated on Planet AL. It feels rather under-represented. If you have a blog with a decent feed, let Xentac know so that Planet AL can become more representative of the community. Otherwise, do post comments so that the brave bloggers, who wear their souls on their sleves, feel loved. smile

Re: Planet Arch Linux

It might be worth pointing out that Xentac almost certainly reserves the right to decide what makes "a decent feed".

Based on previous experience it doesn't have to a major publication but it helps if contains a lot of Arch/Linux related stuff...especially for those of you that want to get the word out about your pet projects...well, that's what I use it for...

He's right. I didn't ask Xentac whether he wants anymore feeds - Planet AL is his toy, but I thought what the heck. Muhahahah

I'm sure a "Xentac is cool" type article will get you on board. hehe

Oh, I think this thread is a good idea, I was attemtping to add to what you said rather than counter, came across worng, whoops!

I just don't want a back lash against you when Xentac rejects threads on perfectly reasonable grounds...."But aroo said decent!  What's not decent about Quality Street wrapper origami?"

Oh yeah! How did I not notice that? I obviously just assumed you were linked in. What a silly billy I am. Apologies to all fans of Dusty rushing to view Planet AL only to find he's not on there!

And I'm no celebrity.

man, I haven't read maddox in ages - thanks, need to catch up....

oh, and this rocks:

Few things invoke more contempt for humanity than someone who pronounces URL as "erl." It's an acronym, not a word you douche! Between people who say "erl" and programmers who pronounce char (an abbreviation for character) as "chär" (with the "ch" pronounced like in "chart"), I get so pissed that I just want to saw my arms off.

Re: Planet Arch Linux

Thanks for the link deficite. It made my day. I think I'll put that murder-suicide off until tomorrow now...

The URL statements were the only ones I disagreed with. Maybe because when I was an impressionable Internet neophyte I came across a fellow who called himself the duke of URL.

I would have kicked him in the twig and berries--Unless he pronounced it duke of "you-are-ell".

People who pronounce SQL as "sequal" piss me off too.

Haha. I deliberately use sequel around people who say ESS CUE ELL. But anywhere else, I use the proper pronunciation. ;-)

Re: Planet Arch Linux

I think I will invent a new one:

fup == php

"Did you write that website in fup, with a sequel back-end?"
"Fup-off you muppet."
[sound's of knives being sharpened can be heard in the background...]
