Presumably after a system-wide update, I can't use my samba printers anymore. Whenever I try to print something to such a printer, I get a dialog asking for authentication:
Authentication is required to print document '...' on printer '...'This is the first time I get this, it used to work just fine before, without this dialog. I'm also not entirely sure whether I should use my normal username and password or the root user with its password (or even my username here on the network)...?
Anyway, neither of those three options seem to work. The dialog disappears, but then this happens (from the CUPS error log):

Paused - "Unable to connect to CIFS host after (tried 3 times)"Resuming the printer doesn't fix anything, the whole misery just repeats. Lately I also had some issues with pdftops, but I "fixed" it by manually converting my PDF files to Postscript files.
Anyway, any ideas on how to fix this? I'm seriously considering not to update CUPS ever again after I get it working, because this is the umpteenth time something is wrong with it -- and apart from spending much time to fix it every time (I don't do anything weird, I just update it once in a while) I'm now so annoyed that I should really stop adding text to this post before it turns into a rant.

Lovely output. Not sure if you got this resolved Ailurus. Perhaps one of these suggestions could do the trick?
Don't use the default share name?
Try adjusting / disabling Antivirus software? (See below post on adjusting the rules for at least one of those errors)
