[Solved]Gnome startup on battery

So after installing Grub2 I can no longer start Gnome while running on battery power. I don't think it is grub related however as I boot just fine until it starts gdm. I get the gnome frowny face computer saying "opps something has gone wrong! please log out and try again". I can run gdm correctly every time while the adaptor is in. I'm going to look around for an error log relating to this but if anyone has any Idea of places to look please let me know thanks
