Hello,
i just installed 2x 8GB SODIMM DDR3 Rams to my Lenovo Z360. There was 2x 2GB installed before.
Part numbers are CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9.
After this upgrade, on startup the (Pheonix) Bios shows this message:
CPU = 1 Processors Detected, Cores per Processor = 2
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M460 @ 2.53GHz
16248M System RAM Passed

Press <F1> to resume, <F2> to Setup
When i press F1, Grub comes up and everything works as expected. Linux (htop) shows me 15851MB of Ram. (Why the differnece?)
I tried to change some options in the Bios menu. Nothing changed. There are not so much options to set.
I wonder if 16GB are too much for this Notebook, but "dmidecode --type memory" gave me "Maximum Capacity: 16GB", so i trusted that.
Can i test if all of the RAM is useable and that i can ignore the annoying F1-pressing thing at startup? Or do i have to get smaller rams?
Thanks in advance,

What does memtest86+ detect? Is an updated BIOS available for your hardware?

Well, memtest makes the Computer reboot. I was not able to start Windows which seems to be the only possibility to make the bios upgrade. i think it could work through wine, but all these errors make me think that 16gb are too much for this. also, a quick lookup of my processors tells me 8GB max: http://ark.intel.com/products/50179/Int … -2_53-GHz)
I also created a Ramdisk on a running arch, dd'd 9gb into it and the system crashed with a kind of a kernel panic.
I hope amazon is kind :-(
Tanks for your tip,

Don't think there are many laptops out that can take 16 GB of ram.... yet.
