Wine fonts are garbled

I am experiencing a wierd problem with certain fonts in wine. In particular, the playlist font in foobar. I use the same font 'BritishRailLightNormal' for the menu items and they look fine but the play list looks blurred.

Not sure what is causing this. Only installed the basic wine package. Tried installing with the mono, gecko and winetricks packages. Also tried installing the ms-core fonts. Nothing worked.
