Sound settings not persistent after recent upgrade

Hello,

I'm currently using pulseaudio and my sound settings in e17 are not saved after I reboot.  This issue occurred after a recent pacman -Syu.

Now every time I boot, I have to manually unmute the speaker channel with alsamixer.  So far, I have tried unmuting the speaker channel, ensuring my user is part to the audio users group, running "alsactl store" and running the alsa daemon at startup but it's been a no-go

The wiki article on pulse audio suggests we remove our user from the audio group, but when I do so the shutdown/restart buttons are grayed out in e17.
