SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate

Hey,

I am getting the following error when I try to install or update any packages using pacman.

error: failed retrieving file 'core.db' from mir1.archlinux.fr : SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate

I am not sure what caused this problem.
I have tried searching for an answer but I did not encounter any post in context of pacman.

As I live in a student campus, I have to use a proxy for accessing internet. But I think that the proxy is not causing the problem as it used to work fine initially.

Would should be causing this problem?

I have the same problem. But if I uncomment all the mirrors, then invariably one of them works..

This seems like a pretty god awful solution!

I know, but that's the only way I am able to update my system at all. Do you have a better solution? I couldn't find anything on the net somehow...

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but what exactly are you pointing me to? Does the fact that I get SSL errors imply that pacman is "completely broken"?

Re: SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate

Not necessarily, but it seems like it is a pretty simple test to see if it is broken.  All you really have to do is doesnload a couple packages and extract them to /... though since it is your SSL you may want to start with that package first.

Re: SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate

Our mirrors don't use SSL (i.e.: all mirror URLs start with http://), so it's a problem with your proxy.

Ask your campus' network administrators.
