HP Mini 1000 Lid Issues

Hello,

I have Arch on my HP Mini 1000.  However, neither the # tail -f /var/log/messages.log nor the # acpi_listen recognize any lid status.

What I'm trying to do is have the backlight shut off when I close the lid and turn back on when I open it.
