Re: Possible bug in 3.4.9 and maybe 3.5.3?

Try 3.5.2-1 from [testing]?  I suspect this will be released into [core] relatively quickly.

Re: Possible bug in 3.4.9 and maybe 3.5.3?

Sorry for bumping but is there anyone else having problems with 3.4.9 and various graphical components or maybe open radeon drivers.

I had gnome-shell crash the kernel and i also had another crash related to xorg.

Sorry for not providing more info but i don't have a camera to capture the kernel panic screen.

@graysky

i'll wait for the devs to put it in [core]

I thought my troubles would have gone away with 3.5.3 but:

Re: Possible bug in 3.4.9 and maybe 3.5.3?

Hi,

I did a bit of googling. For paging errors one option is broken hardware, in particular a broken memory chip.

Best wishes,

atlantis

Thanks atlantis i ll run a memtest.

One more thing.

I get this on my logs since the begining.

When i disable firewire from the bios it goes away. Could this be causing all the other bugs/panics?

Re: Possible bug in 3.4.9 and maybe 3.5.3?

Two memtest+ passes showed no errors.

The firewire also is the module that messes with my suspend/resume.  I sent an email to the linux-pm mailing list but no answer yet.

Also the panics i get (not that often) -except the thing in the logs- seem to be different every time.

----- Reboot -----

The panicks i get are quite rare . I checked the memory recently (memtest) and was ok. My motherboard has a firmware problem where it misroutes irqs. Could this be the root to my problems?? And if its not the motherboard FW related to this how can i determine which HW part fails.

Re: Possible bug in 3.4.9 and maybe 3.5.3?

There could be memory problems with the graphics card that won't show up in a motherboard RAM test.

I may have to CONSOLE you about your usage of ridiculously easy graphical interfaces...

Is there a way to test for that??

Swap out with another video card or a manufacturer's utility (usually runs under DOS or Windows).

Re: Possible bug in 3.4.9 and maybe 3.5.3?

Thanks for the reply.

The problem is that i neither have windows nor an exra GPU to test. On top of that this isn't a problem that happens all the time. It might happen once every two weeks or something and i cannot narrow it down. Its weird because for the 7 years i use linux i never had a kernel panic and with this new system i get them once in a while.
