pacman -Syu fails with ipv6 uncontactable

Not sure if this is a network issue or something I need to fix outside the machine

I tried pacman -Syu with my favourite mirror and got the following error several times

# pacman -Syu
:: Synchronising package databases...
error: failed retrieving file 'core.db' from mirror.de.leaseweb.net : Failed to connect to 2a00:c98:2010:1:1:face:d06:f00d: Network is unreachable
error: failed to update core (download library error)
error: failed retrieving file 'extra.db' from mirror.de.leaseweb.net : Failed to connect to 2a00:c98:2010:1:1:face:d06:f00d: Network is unreachable
.......

I assume that I'm being directed via an IPV6 address somewhere else. I can upgrade using another mirror eg mirrors.us.kernel.org, but can I fix to use my best responder? It seems to be a transient error and I've seen it only in the last couple of days.

Re: pacman -Syu fails with ipv6 uncontactable

Are you using an actual ipv6 link? If so, can you contact said host outside of pacman (through your browser for example)?

If you're not using an ipv6 link; consider disabling ipv6.

Re: pacman -Syu fails with ipv6 uncontactable

I use NetworkManager with IPV6 ignore for eth0. I tried changing that to automatic, but it made no difference. During the problem, ping mirror.de.leaseweb.net was using an IPV4 address, but failing. Today the glitch isn't happening and the ping goes successfully to 46.165.198.1.
