Basically I upgraded with "pacman -Syu" the other day after the first time in maybe two weeks. Upon next restart something strange happened as it booted up. All the sudden my []'s turn into strange characters (not english) and it fails to load any modules. This results in a very low resolution for the terminal, no detected network card, sound card, or graphics card. I was playing around with the grub kernel line and rc.d but I put everything back after this happened and had the same problem. The only thing I did that I believe could have brought upon this problem was upgrading. I don't know what was upgraded but something went wrong. I expected a news on the home page to come up because whenever something bad happens the homepage has a solution! but not this time, I'm stuck without my laptop and would like to get it back and running.
Does anyone else experience this problem or know what it might be?

Just figured it out.
If anyone else gets this problem its quite simple. It means you like me keep your /boot in a separate partition that you leave unmounted. The recent update I noticed after looking at pacman.log rebuilt my initramfs-linux.img and vmlinuz-linux files. It then proceeded to save them in a /boot folder on my root partition (not my boot partition). The solution was simply moving these files out, mounting boot, and moving them into boot.
