Problem with OSS4 install on XFCE

I'm using XFCE4 and had no problem running ALSA.

I read that OSS4 can give me better sound than ALSA so I tried to install it. I followed the steps of https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Open_Sound_System and with `osstest` I can hear the really well audio quality but sometimes it adds extra noise. My problem is just this extra noise that is generated: when I'm listening mp3 with Banshee, it sounds terrible...

I think it has something to do with gstreamer, I do not have pulseaudio installed and I can't run `gstreamer-properties` to configure.

Sorry for my english and thank for your attention.

Re: Problem with OSS4 install on XFCE

Ok, I found same exact problem here: OSS issue, background noises corresponding to PC activity

¿Is there a solution for this issue now?

Using headphones? It's just a myth. Use the bs2b plugin, and ALSA will sound just as good.

@brebs - First, thank you for your quick reply and sorry for my late reply. That day after I posted this question I came back with ALSA because I couldn't fix it. Now everything is fine with ALSA, thank you anyway. wink
