No sound after update, Creative CA0132

I originally had a different motherboard with the usual HD'97 sort of codec onboard and sound worked fine. Then I upgraded my motherboard to a Gigabyte G1.Sniper 3 which has a Creative CA0132 sound chip. I did not reinstall after the upgrage, but everything worked fine, including the sound. Then maybe a month or so back I did system updates and the sound stopped working. The sound works fine in Windows always, and on rare occasion I've been able to get the sound working again in Arch, seemingly only for one program. At this time, though, I can't get any sound at all. I've tried the two speaker test as well.

I have gone through the troubleshooting for both ALSA and PulseAudio, but nothing so far.

One oddity is that alsamixer has a "Speaker" section that it always on "00" and cannot be changed. I'm not sure if that's a problem or if that's maybe some internal speaker? The PCM section is on and I can modify the volume. My only problem with the old motherboard was that the sound would be on mute by default and I'd have to move the volume slider to get sound.

I use Gnome with Gnome-Shell so I think I need PulseAudio still. Sorry if I left anything out, I've been trying to get this to work for quite a while now so I may not have remembered everything I did. Any ideas?

Re: No sound after update, Creative CA0132

Well, I never got a reply so I ended up doing a fresh reinstall on the current hardware and now sound works.  hmm
