Hello,
does anyone know the problem or even a solution for the following issue:
I am using archlinux on a lenovo thinkpad t400. I boot with the onboard Intel i965 graphics card into Gnome (classic mode) using GDM.
I run qemu VM (WindowsXP) using the following command:
qemu -m 1024 -vga std -drive cache=writeback,file=WindowsXP.hdd
The native resolution of my T400 is 1440x900. I can choose this resolution in the Windows guest but as soon as I switch qemu to fullscreen mode (ctrl+alt+F) the screen goes blank and i need to restart gdm to make X work again.
After some experiments I think that GDM causes this problem somehow. If i start a naked XServer by running:
$ X
$ export DISPLAY=:0.0
$ metacity &
$ gnome-session
I noticed that qemu works fine in this server even if i switch a guest to fullscreen which uses the native resolution of my notebook.
Any ideas what GDM is doing different?
