I'm experiencing painfully slow x264 (h.264) encoding times using HandBrake and the stock Arch 3.5 series kernel (x86-64). Encodes with HandBrake slow to 1-2 fps on the 2nd pass when using 3.5 series kernel. When I roll back to a 3.4 series kernel, I get speeds in the 20-25 fps range. This issue only seems to affect my i5-3450S (Ivy Bridge) with 8GB RAM. I get the same encode speeds regardless of the kernel used on my i3-2105 (Sandy Bridge) with 8GB RAM, which is about 10-15 fps on the 2nd pass. I could only find one other report on this in the Red Hat Bugzilla (which I replied to). Has anyone else seen this and what can I do to help get this fixed?
