September 2005 Arch Screenshots

Guidelines
Pretty simple · DO NOT post full resolution screenshots!  You can use the "mogrify" command (pacman -S imagemagick) to make a thumbnail of your screenshot:

$ cp screenie.png thumb-screenie.png
$ mogrify -resize 20% thumb-screenie.png

Twenty percent of the original size is great for 1024x768 screenies.  You can then upload these images to your server and use the following code to show them on the forum:

This displays the thumbnail as a link to the screenie like this:

thumb-screenie.png

· If you do not have your own upload space you can upload to http://art.archlinux.org and link your shot here (with text) for discussion

· Several websites also offer free image hosting, of these  ImageShack is very popular and does a neat auto thumbnail:

2005053109197fv.th.png

You should use the "Thumbnail for forums (1)" link code that is supplied to post here smile

· Once the new month begins please do not post new screenies in the old threads!

gkrellm = transparent (I can't find the link)
E17      = slate-e17 (I can't find it either!, I thought it was get-e.org where I got this theme, but I was wrong)

in any case if you want one of those themes (or both), send me a PM

wow!
a) you're the first person I've ever seen using windowlab.  I used it for about an hour.  didn't like it.  but here's props to ya!
b) that background rocks... I love the vectorized-photo things.
c) I'll see what we can do about windowlab in community 8)

Re: September 2005 Arch Screenshots

So I've basically decided, I'm going to redo my desktop(each month) for the sole purpose of monthly screenshots.  Plus, I'm gay like that and enjoy trying (albeit failing) to be artsy or creative. Just thought I'd let you know...

Re: September 2005 Arch Screenshots

you could be creative by posting the same screenshot each and every month. do it for months on end and see if anybody notices/cares or gets annoyed. or just keep posting screenshots of random oses and ssh into an arch box and do pacman -v so no one says anything d;-p

Re: September 2005 Arch Screenshots

genius idea! but will it be creative to take your idea to be creative?  and plus i'm really fat and lazy, so the whole posting the same screenshot every month is probably a good idea.

totally randomly off topic, when i saw your sig i thought it was really funny, and i'm not sure why. i started laughing on the phone with my girlfriend when i read it, but she didn't get it...
