Might not look that good, but it's a hell of a lot more useable this way.

Re: September 2005 Arch Screenshots

could be, but using that gnome-stuff on top of openbox will slow it down, so why not switching to another wm?

Re: September 2005 Arch Screenshots

Here is the default setting of the final ArchWM-base.
http://user-contributions.org/projects/ … se-0.5.jpg

I re-coded the whole base (not the tools) by kicking out everything related to Fvwm-crystal. I almost gave up the whole project thinking FVWM is too difficult to configure but its not true. The new trend of FVWM2 gives the impression of high-tech and advance coding, but there is no need. The basic of FVWM does the samething and in a simple manner.

There are only two things needed: (1) start the module/library and, (2) give it a shape and style. This is what ArchWM-base does.

My hindrance, how to compete the other WMs. Even myself I have to get convinced if it can do same as Fluxbox. Yes, it can do. And more.

If you were wondering why making the base look like Fluxbox, now you know. wink

I don't think you need to compete. FVWM is perfect in it's own right. Extremely flexible.

Nice work on ArchWM-base though.

A couple of suggestions:
A bit more eye candy could be usefull if it is to be used on an everyday basis by some people. I never tried ArchWM so maybe it's already possible using some of your modules, but well, to me the default look is just too much gray. Yes and I know people could easily change it by hand if it is not included (if they know how to code it), but that's not the idea, right?
One more question. Do you have inlcuded some scripts (wallpaper browsing and setting, weather lookup, mounting, screenshots, clock,  etc) ?
That would be nice if you can include those as modules to.
