Know a good phpbb mod we could use?  You can post about it here.

An rss feed is on my list - it is implemented on the demo site but not working - it needs a php person to take a look I think.

I am just uploading topic anywhere on the demo site - feel free to see what you can do with it - I am off to bed

It requires a database mod I am afraid and we are tryiing to keep them to a minimum and restrict to "essential" mods or widely requested.  I don't think the need for more interesting polls will ever outweigh the cons of installing the mod - sorry

You might be surprised!  There is a website called buildtolearn where you can set up websites using php and mysql just for such a purpose

Ok, I just investigated rasat's links.  This is still bottom of the list but only because it is an almost separate project - as far as I can it only requires the most basic patching of the phpbb software and could probably use a separate mysql dbase.  In addition to this there are issues of increased server load i.e. running the cron job and shipping the mail (as I undertstand it at least).

So, yeah, this is a whole nother kettle of fish.  I'm not saying I won't help implement it but at the moment we have a shoal of small fish to fry, rather than going straight for Moby Dick, if you see what I mean...

I don't even know if there's a mod for this, but a little feature that would be cool - If a thread contains a poll, the title will list the current "winning" poll item.

This would be nice for "favorite program X" threads as well as the TU voting forum.

was blocked by that feed's robots.txt.

Yeah, I just used your exact query and it works fine in sage and my other one works fine in thunderbird

from looking at our robots.txt, it appears that we're disallowing everything from root down.  the way google does aggregation is with it's bots apparently, and the robots.txt we have blocks that. 

User-agent: *
Disallow: /

is it possible to have that restriction lowered?  right now i can work around with a reverse proxy setup from a different server to this server (which is what i have to do for the arch packages and netflix)

I am going to suggest a mod that pretty much rewrites phpbb. It is made by a well known mod author named ptirhiik. It makes phpBB alot quicker and has better permissions etc. He rewrote the permission system and about everything else to use classes so everything is much faster, etc. http://ptifo.clanmckeen.com/index.php is the link to the site for it. http://ptifo.clanmckeen.com/download/mo … talled.zip is the url for the direct download of the mod. Some mods that you might want to use could require a bit of updating to support it but it is well worth it. You get subforums, new permission system, and several of his other mods that he combined into it.

If you ever need help finding a mod for phpBB just ask. I am well aware of what is out there due to doing mod installations for over 1 and a half years.

All forum mods have now been made.  If you wish to request a new mod in future please start a new thread with a poll to gauge popularity.  Bear in mind the poll may not affect the final decision to implement the mod
