How are you trying to mount it?  In contrast to the other systems you mentioned, arch does not automount media by default.  You have the choice in how to set this up - and thus also the responsibility to do so yourself.

There is a good wiki page on (auto)mounting external media.

No worries, arch is a "do it yourself" distro, but there is a wonderful wiki to guide you through nearly anything you want to set up.  There often is a bit of an adjustment period though when coming from other systems that tend to do much of this for you and hide the details from you.
