[SOLVED]Can't setup Huawei E173 3G modem

Hi, I am trying to setup Huawei E173 3G modem.

lsusb without usb_modeswitch

Bus 001 Device 020: ID 12d1:1446 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E1552/E1800/E173 (HSPA modem)

lsusb with installed usb_modeswitch

Bus 001 Device 019: ID 12d1:1436 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. E173 3G Modem (modem-mode)

# dmesg | grep tty

I have no ideo how to make it work. Please help!

Well,

I just got one of these Huawei usb dongles too (not sure about the model number) and only way i've managed to get it to work is:

open dolphin -> automounts HiLink folder -> kdesu sh install_linux -> works.

All the management is done in webbrowser so its kind of nice web dongle / 3-4G modem.

You might want to google for the linux support for your modem as not all the 3G modems work with linux.
