pcscd works only if manually started

Hi,

I've just installed PCSCd in my laptop and it's only usable if I launch it by hand. When isuing a "systemctl start pcscd" it starts (there is a pcscd proccess running) but the service is not available:

$ pcsc_scan
PC/SC device scanner
V 1.4.20 (c) 2001-2011, Ludovic Rousseau <ludovic.rousseau@free.fr>
Compiled with PC/SC lite version: 1.8.3
SCardEstablishContext: Service not available.

If I launch pcscd as root:

$ pcsc_scan
PC/SC device scanner
V 1.4.20 (c) 2001-2011, Ludovic Rousseau <ludovic.rousseau@free.fr>
Compiled with PC/SC lite version: 1.8.3
Using reader plug'n play mechanism
Scanning present readers...
0: C3PO LTC31 v2

Mon Oct  1 19:44:53 2012
Reader 0: C3PO LTC31 v2
  Card state: Card inserted,

I have tried to remove the --auto-exit from the service file in order to have the same running options passed to pcscd but that lead to the same result.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: pcscd works only if manually started

I've been experiencing problems reading OpenPGP smart cards via the PCSCd and gnupg since updating the system yesterday. Maybe it's related?

pcsc_scan returns the card reader showing that the card is inserted, however gpg --card-list fails with this error:  "gpg: selecting openpgp failed: Card error gpg: OpenPGP card not available: Card error"

sudo gpg --card-list as expected.

I suspect this has something to do with the recent systemd packages updates as neither the pcsclite or gnupg packages have been updated in the last month. The systemd pcscd.service and pcscd.socket files have not been updated since Aug 31 2012, so I think those can be ruled out though.

Don't think so, in my scenario it fails with pcsc_scan, before trying anything from gnupg.
