Hahahahahahahaha. I actually have a dual boot with Vista (Which is why I want this to work so bad!), and wireless works fine on there.

Hmm...right now I'm running kernel 3.5.4 (before rebooting to 3.5.5), and I used wireless_tools and it's working at the moment, but still not with wicd.
I've been tired of trying to figure out what is going on that I just plugged into the wired. It doesn't seem that 3.5.3 was a terribly good one. Whenever I get a good reason to reboot I'll try to see if anything changes in 3.5.5.

I tried not using Wicd and only using wpa_supplicant, but the same thing happened. Please, someone find a fix. I'm desperate.

Can you do iwconfig/dhcpcd?

All I can say is that my HP DV4 and its BCM4312 work perfectly with the b43 driver. I mean rock solid.
I have seen some APs that don't play nicely with dhcpcd. You might try dhclient instead.
When you are connected, please run iwconfig and post the results. Maybe that will tell us something.
Also, what is the AP? Do you own it? Can you get to it's logs and status reports? If so what does it think about the connection and its quality?

Okay this is the output of my iwconfig while it is connected and after it drops connection:
While its connected:

And this is the output of dhcpcd.
dhcpcd[1821]: version 5.6.2 starting

I do own the AP, and according to the logs it is allowing all of the connections from the PC, and doesn't seem to have a problem with it. Also, in case it helps, when the connection drops wlan0 goes down.
Thanks again for helping!

Well, it certainly is not for lack of signal quality. Are you currently using B43, or are you using wl?
Maybe you could post the output of ps -e. Let's see if there is something unexpected trying to 'help' in the background.

I am currently using the b43. Also, something weird, my router sees the PC as some weird name, even though I changed the hostname to ArchLinux.
Thanks again!

Where do you set your hostname?

/etc/hosts and /etc/hostname. But it seems the right hostname is appearing now.

Hmmm, I can browse the web all that I want using links command line in Xfce. But once I start links GUI and try to browse the web, it drops my connection. Could my problem have to do with Xorg? Does anyone know why that would happen? Also the PC is an Acer Aspire 5516 and acer_wmi modules loads at boot, but I have blacklisted it and nothing changed.
Thanks!

Another day, another kernel, and I haven't even rebooted the last one.
I say I had it going, but overnight, it dropped the wireless and didn't want to go at least by wicd. I can connect to the network manually, and it shows up in wicd, but not from wicd directly. My previous attempts were to disable wicd by stopping it, but it didn't seem to have any difference on manually connecting.
All I can say is that my HP DV4 and its BCM4312 work perfectly with the b43 driver. I mean rock solid.
I don't know about you but the Broadfailure Kmart blue light special has been tempermental except under something called Windows. OpenBSD's airforce driver has a bite that stays with it, but is a tremendously unbearable slow dog. If you ever want to know what devices are flaky, *BSD will sort them out for you.

Try a static IP.

So I found out that I had my /etc/hosts all wrong. Could that cause the drop? If I wanted my hostname to be ArchLinux what would my /etc/hosts look like? Also, I will try a static IP if fixing /etc/hosts doesn't work.
Thank you!

Okay, I finally got it working. The solution is to use dhclient with wpa_supplicant. For some reason dhcpcd doesn't hold the connection. Even using Wicd with dhclient doesn't work, or netcfg. I think Network Manager would work since it does on Ubuntu, but I don't want all those gnome dependencies. Thank you guys so much, I know someone said use dhclient, and another said wpa_supplicant, and combining them was the answer. Also, I can use either b43 or the wext version of wl, both work fine with dhclient and wpa_supplicant.
P.S. Do I mark this as solved or does a moderator?

The moderators do not mark them as solved as we do not really know when you consider them solved. Just edit your first post and add [SOLVED] to the beginning of the thread title.

Hey, just an update. I can use netcfg fine if in /etc/conf.d/netcfg I add the line DHCLIENT=yes. Then it uses dhclient instead of dhcpcd, which results in it working perfectly.
