ltmodem driver not working

I followed all the steps in the arch wiki for the ltmodem driver installation.
The driver appears to be installed correctly because I have both the /dev/modem and /dev/ttyLTM0 entries.

This is the output I got when I ran wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf :

Port Scan<*1>: Scanning ttyLTM0 first, /dev/modem is a link to it.
ttyLTM0<Info>: Can not set information for serial port

Port Scan<*1>: LTM0
ttyS0<*1>: ATQ0 V1 E1 -- failed with 2400 baud, next try: 9600 baud

This process is repeated for 9600 and 115200, finally saying failed too, giving up.

ttySLTM0<*Info>: Can not set information for serial port.
Port Scan<*1>: SLTM0

Sorry, no modem was detected! Did you configure it correctly with setserial?

My pc is a Dell Inspiron 8100. My modem specs from WinXP are:
Lucent Win Modem located at: PCI bus 8, device 8, function 0
Maximum port speed 115200
It is using IRQ 10.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong or what can I do to have my modem working?

Thanks for your help.
