degraded performance after upgrading from 3.5.6 to 3.6.2

It is really strange but kernel upgrade significantly affected on ffmpeg performance. I have server to make video transcoding of 11 DVB-S channels to h264 1.2Mbit rate and streaming in via http. Usually server works with no problem and even has idle about 15-20%. Transcoding with no problem.

kernel 3.5.6:

With 3.6.2 load is the same but it is impossible to watch any channel -- errors and lags. I can see normal only one channel with one ffmpeg running, second ffmpeg on 3.6.2 did lags.

After downgading kernel to 3.5.6 all works as its normal state. All 11 channels show normal pictures with no lags.

Seems it is problem underground knocking ...

Re: degraded performance after upgrading from 3.5.6 to 3.6.2

Recent kernels seem to have problems with CPU frequency scaling. For some people it doesn't scale down, for me, and maybe you, it sometimes doesn't scale up. You can monitor the CPU frequency by running:

$ watch grep \"cpu MHz\" /proc/cpuinfo

If scaling is the source of your problem, you can switch to the performance governor, or try to tweak the ondemand governor.

Thanks. I'll try may be. Ehhh ... should wait for 3.6.6 or even 3.6.16 for server :-).
