After doing bad forced upgraded did new install with
10/9 iso. Install the base base-dev . rebooted to NO network.
with lsmod showed r8169 not loaded. [have openSUSE 12.2 on box using the r8169]
modprobe -va r8169 [ nothing on sysout and no load]
added file /etc/modules-load.d/r8169.conf with r8169 in file.
rebooted no load; journalctl showed this error:
system-modules-load [223] failed to lookup alias r8169 function not implemented
tried same file at /run/modules-load.d/ [ no error or no load]
Other strange on this load: at login linux 3.3, the /usr/lib/modules3.6.6 ??

There's at least a few typo in here somewhere, but I'm guessing that you're trying to imply that there's a mismatch between the running kernel and the modules on disk. You've probably fubar'd a kernel upgrade by not having /boot mounted. You should fix that. There's probably a lot of other modules that aren't being loaded.

had a comment in r8169.conf in 1st line
now file has only
r8169
took out comment file only r8169 .
Like on the systemd.wiki
Typo on the error that i 1st typed in : should be:
systemd-modules-load [226] failed to lookup alias 'r8169' : Function not implemented
systemdctl shows automount error also, with the modules-load error
