Does the base-install cd install udev now?
Thanks.

The base install .iso is still 0.7 and the last time I used it, it was still DevFS. Although there's plenty of information to make the transition to uDev without a problem.

I recently installed Arch on two machines and made them using udev by selecting the udev package for installing in the installer and adding "devfs=nomount" to the kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst. It should look something like that then:
kernel (hd0,0)/vmlinuz26 root=/dev/discs/disc0/part2 ro vga=773 devfs=nomount
Works pretty fine for me.

I believe the installer supports both devfs and udev, but devfs is the default.

I was impressed at how well udev works and how easy it is to set it up with arch. just adding a parameter to my lilo.conf for the kernel and it was working - without ANY problems. great work guys!!!
