r8169 module with latest kernel

Hi Guys,

I'm not sure if I'm the only one, but I tried running updates the other day and ended up with no network after the kernel update. This is a huge problem for me as I'm using kerberos and it hangs kdm all to hell trying to startup the system.

I'm on an asus M4A79t Deluxe, the specs say its a realtek 8112 controller.

I had to roll back to the last 3.5 kernel for it to load the r8169 module for my lan controller

I thought I'd mention in case there's someone else that had similar issues

edit//

I suppose I should also note, when troubelshooting the issue, running lspci -v, my lan controller did not show up at all in the output, and I was unable to modprobe the kernel module to load it manually as I had thought that I might just need to create a systemd rule to load it

I tried using pacman -U to revert to the earlier cached package and then gzip was hanging trying to compress the kernel image and therefore would not complete.

I had to boot from the cd to chroot into it in order to revert to the previous 3.5 kernel
