Unreadable fonts in Google Earth

I've installed google-earth from AUR, and as you can see fonts are barely readable...I've set font options with qtconfig and also i've installed ms and dejavu fonts, but nothing changed...What's the problem? I hope you could help me!

Re: Unreadable fonts in Google Earth

Right from the AUR comments, have you tried to launch it from a terminal with these arguments:

google-earth -fn -xos4-terminus-medium-r-normal--12-120-72-72-c-60-iso8859-9

?

I would assume you would need the "terminus-font" package installed..

Re: Unreadable fonts in Google Earth

You're welcome. smile

You can try to use a different font where it says "terminus" in the command line.  A bit of experimentation just might get you a satisfactory outcome.. wink

Re: Unreadable fonts in Google Earth

I'm going to make a few assumptions here, the main one being that you are possibly using patched fontconfig packages such as infinality?

I find that when I use these I cannot get decent looking fonts in google earth no matter what I do.  However, if sticking to standard fontconfig, installing the windows 7 fonts (also available in the AUR though you need a windows 7 disk or install to rip the fonts from) and using the fontconfig files this guy provides, http://sharpfonts.cc I get reasonably good looking fonts across all programs.  Though not as good looking as infinality fonts.
