[SOLVED] gnome 3.6 crashes after setting incompatible theme

As a few others have reported, gnome-shell 3.6 and its derivatives become unusable when setting an incompatible theme. One then has to either use the command-line or gnome-tweak-tool through another DE to fix this. However, I have tried the same thing on a couple of other distros and it seems those have some fallback mechanism in place, preventing the crash. Is there something I am missing, or is this maybe a bug that should be reported?

The problem here is theme engines. These things often touch more or less internal API in GTK. When GTK is updated, these theme engines either don't load at all, resulting in fallback behaviour, or crash completely, resulting in an unusable desktop.

Thank you, removing package gtk-engines-unico fixed the problem and lead to exactly the behavior I have seen under Ubuntu and Fedora. It would be nice if the new GTK could somehow conflict with outdated packages of such engines, but I'll leave that stuff up to you guys.

This works fine if you need a working unico engine.
The new Faience theme crashed all gtk3 apps, but with this package it's all good
