[SOLVED] chromium displays some special characters as squares

Hello, chromium does not display some of the special characters correctly, instead it outputs an empty square. At the same time epiphany and firefox seem to work fine. The attached image depicts the problem, notice that the arrows in the bottom webbrowser are missing:

Chromium has font encoding set to UTF-8, my system uses infinality, ttf-win7-fonts installed, /etc/fonts/local.conf is not present.

EDIT: reverting to unpatched packages solves this problem, I will move to the infinality forums now.
EDIT2: solution was to set the style to 'infinality' instead of 'win7'
