Hi,
I have a machine running gdm and xfce. Up until now, I configured when to suspend, blank screen etc. via xfce4-power-manager.
Automatic suspend was totally disabled as I use this machine as a server.
After switching to systemd, the machine always suspends after some idle minutes. This is of course unacceptable for server use. xfce4-power-manager settings are not respected anymore. Any ideas?
I tried changing settings with $ gsettings set gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.power {setting} but that isn't respected either (or I don't understand gsettings).
Best regards

I don't really see why your machine would be suspending on its own. Screen blanking I can see, as dpms is simply on by default. But a total suspend sounds a bit fishy to me.
Do you actualy know what process is suspending the computer? Maybe some logs to inidcate what is actually going on...

journalctl -a reveals
systemd-sleep: suspending system
does that help?

Well, at least we now know you are truly running systemd. What is calling systemd-sleep though?

OK, I had a second, probably related problem, that now when closing the lid (it's an old laptop), it suspends (which it shouldn't, since it is configured to just blank the screen in xfce4-power-manager).
I followed the advice here to set all the "Handle..." settings to "ignore" and now at least xfce4-power-manager has control over the lid closing action again.
Testing now to see whether the problem with automatic suspend is gone too.

You need to either reboot, or do a daemon-reload (not sure if that is actually sufficient), in order for the new settings to take effect.

The config file edit seems to have solved the other problem too. Thanks for your input!
